Norouz Medical Appeal – Iran
HELP OUR YOUNG WOMEN TO WALK TALL IN 1396
OMID Foundation would like to wish you all a HAPPY NOROUZ. We thank everyone who has supported us in 1395 and look forward to 1396 with hope that we can continue to make a difference to the lives of young women in Iran. Norouz is a very special occasion for the girls at OMID. For many of them this is the first time that they celebrate the New Year.
As well as addressing their educational and therapeutic needs, we also need to urgently meet some pressing surgical needs of some of the young women in our care at OMID in the next six months.
Let’s get together for this special occasion and make a difference to the lives of young women at OMID in need of life changing surgery.
Zahra always dreamed of being able climb a mountain but was born with a serious condition that required double knee surgery. We were able to raise funds for her two operations, which took nearly a year to complete. Her life has been transformed by this treatment and she has provided us with these photos of her “old legs” and “ new legs”.
Zahra is now a member of the OMID Mountain Climbing team.
We have two more young women waiting for orthopaedic surgery to help with their posture and walking. 18 year old Neda has a tumour on her spine that needs removing and a veterbrae cushion inserted. She is in a lot of pain and discomfort and is finding it hard to concentrate and study as well as move about. 16 year old Shadi also requires urgent surgery to her ankle from a bad break sustained in childhood by her abusers. She longs to join in with outdoor and sports activities with the other young women but has so far been unable to do so. We have been able to find surgeons to volunteer their services free of charge but we still need to cover hospital stays, x-rays, scans, medicines and physiotherapy.
Please help us fund orthopaedic surgery and treatment, costing in the region of 100,000, 000 Rials and 120,000,000 Rials respectively for these two young women today.
