The girls at Omid learn about AIDS and HIV
The young women at our centers were able to visit a workshop on HIV and AIDS at the Imam Khomeini Hospital AIDS Research Centre in Tehran. The workshop was headed by Dr. Minoo Mohraz, a prominent Iranian AIDS specialist and her team and worked to help educate the young women about the disease.
The workshop covered essential topics such as what the disease is and its history, different ways someone can get infected, how to protect oneself, and how to prevent the disease spreading.
At the end of the workshop, all of the participants were tested for AIDS and Hepatitis free of charge. Fortunately all test results came back negative and the girls had an interesting day out. This workshop is part of a weekly workshop program which educates the young women in essential personal development topics.
